Why use a BAS agent?

A BAS agent is a specialist tax professional who is qualified to provide BAS services to businesses. Your BAS agent can keep your business records up to date, lodge your BAS with ATO, provide payroll services and make sure you have reliable data and reports to help you save time, gain peace of mind and improve your business.

BAS services

BAS agents can represent a client in their dealings with the ATO, ascertain and advise on their liabilities, obligations or entitlements under a BAS provision and assist with keeping the required business accounting records.
BAS services are defined in the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA) and include:
  • Applications for ABN
  • Advising on registration for GST, PAYG withholding and fuel tax credits
  • Setting up accounting software with GST codes
  • Allocating transactions and GST
  • Advising on GST and payroll liabilities
  • Calculating claims for fuel tax credits
  • Preparing and lodging activity statements and BAS
  • Advising on PAYG withholding and superannuation obligations for employees
  • Preparing and lodging TPAR reports
  • Reporting payroll information through STP enabled software

A BAS agent:

  • Must be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board and comply with the professional code of conduct. The code consists of 17 key ethical and professional standards.
  • Has obligations to be professional, honest, independent and competent.
  • Is required to meet ongoing experience and education requirements to ensure they keep up to date with changes.

By engaging the services of a qualified tax professional you can be assured that your business accounting records are in capable hands. Save time on your record keeping tasks so that you can focus on other aspects of your business.
